Working offline

Half the properties you service have bad signal. The app is built for that: it keeps working, holds what you did, and sends it when the phone reconnects.

Worth reading before the day it matters.

What works with no signal

  • Seeing today’s jobs, addresses and notes, as long as the app loaded them earlier
  • Clocking in and out
  • Ticking checklist items
  • Taking photos and attaching them
  • Marking a job complete
  • Leaving notes

What needs signal

  • Loading jobs you’ve never opened
  • Seeing changes the office made in the last few minutes
  • Anything about customers or invoices beyond today’s work

How catching up works

Work done offline is stored on the phone and marked as waiting. When signal returns, the app sends it automatically — usually within a few seconds of reconnecting.

Times are recorded as when you tapped, not when the phone reconnected. A clock-in at 8:02 in a dead zone is 8:02 in the office, even if it uploads at 11:40.

Don’t uninstall the app, clear its data, or wipe the phone while work is waiting to sync. That’s the one thing that loses it. If a phone is being replaced, get it on wifi first and let it catch up.

Start the day with signal

The most useful habit: open the app once before leaving the shop, while you’re still on wifi. That loads the day’s jobs onto the phone. After that, dead zones don’t matter much.

Troubleshooting

Photos are stuck. Photos are much larger than everything else and go last. Get the phone onto wifi and leave the app open.

A job I finished still looks open in the office. It hasn’t synced. Check the phone has signal and the app is open.

Times look wrong. Check the phone’s clock is set automatically. A manually-set clock records the times it believes.
