Contract Signing

LawnLedger supports electronic contract signing, allowing your customers to review and sign agreements online without printing, scanning, or mailing documents.

How Contract Signing Works

  1. You create a contract in LawnLedger and click Send for Signature
  2. The customer receives an email with a secure signing link
  3. They click the link and are taken to the contract signing page
  4. They review the full contract terms
  5. They draw or type their signature
  6. They click Sign Contract to complete the process
  7. Both you and the customer receive a signed copy via email

Contract signing links are unique per contract and per customer. They do not require a portal login — the link itself provides secure access to that specific contract.

The Signing Experience

When a customer opens a signing link, they see:

  • Contract Header — Your company name, logo, and the contract title
  • Contract Terms — The full text of the agreement
  • Service Details — Services, pricing, and schedule included in the contract
  • Signature Block — A field to draw or type their signature
  • Date — Automatically filled with the signing date

The signing page is fully responsive and works on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

After Signing

Once a contract is signed:

  • The contract status changes to Signed in LawnLedger
  • A PDF copy of the signed contract is generated
  • Both you and the customer receive the signed PDF via email
  • The contract activity log records the signing time and IP address
  • The signed contract is stored permanently in the system

Bulk Contract Sending

For seasonal contracts, you can send multiple contracts at once:

  1. Navigate to Contracts > Bulk Send
  2. Select a contract template
  3. Choose the customers to send to
  4. Preview and customize individual contracts if needed
  5. Click Send All

Each customer receives their own unique signing link.

⚠️

Once a customer signs a contract, it cannot be edited. If changes are needed after signing, you must create a new contract or an amendment.

Tracking Signature Status

Monitor the status of sent contracts:

  • Sent — Email delivered, awaiting customer action
  • Viewed — Customer has opened the signing page
  • Signed — Customer has completed the signature
  • Expired — Signing link has expired (if an expiration date was set)

View these statuses from the Contracts list or the individual contract detail page.

Electronic signatures collected through LawnLedger are legally binding under the ESIGN Act and UETA. Each signature includes:

  • Timestamp of the signing event
  • IP address of the signer
  • Email address of the signer
  • A unique document hash for tamper detection
